Well, I'm a bit of a movie buff. I love watching movies (even really bad ones sometimes). Often, I think that some bad movies may be very entertaining. One of my favorite bad movies is Barbarella starring Jane Fonda. It's a must see if you haven't seen it. There's a list of movies that I highly recommend if you haven't seen them yet.

Update (Aug. 05, 2001): This page was created so long ago (Internet time) that I can't even remember the exact date. I've got another movie recommendation page if you trust my taste. =)

  • Princess Bride: As far as I'm concerned, it is the best movie ever made. It's got pirates, giants, shreaking eels, fighting, fencing, chases, etc. It starts Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Billy Crystal, Mandy Patinkin, Andre the Giant, and is directed by Rob Reiner. If you don't like this movie, you can forget that you've ever seen this site. I have nothing whatsoever to say to you.
  • Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: Another classic. Stars Robert Redford and Paul Newman as bank robbing bandits. Also costars Katherine Ross. Why she never became a major Hollywood sex symbol I'll never know.
  • (The Adventures of) Buckaroo Banzai across the 8th Dimension: Bit of a cult classic like Rocky Horror Picture Show, but better by mountains and dimensions. Stars Peter Weller, Jeff Goldblum, John Lithgow, Ellen Barkin, Christopher Lloyd, and more. It's a hilarious science fiction that takes you to the 8th Dimension and back.
  • Barbarella: Stars Jane Fonda in her prime with 5 million custume changes (all skimpy). An out of this world heroine discovers the joy of sex while she saves the universe. Incidentally, Duran Duran took their name from this movie. If you've ever been to a club, you've probably heard sound bytes from this film.
  • Everything you ever wanted to know about sex (but was afraid to ask): This is a classic Woody Allen film. It is a definitive must see. Five separate hilarious episodes of humor involving sex.
  • Shawshank Redemption: Stars Tim Robins and Morgan Freeman. One of the best films of 1995. I've never liked anything Stephen King has written. This is an exception. I couldn't help but be impressed. Incidentally, it's not a prison movie; The prison just happened to be the setting where most of the story took place.
  • Usual Suspects: Kevin Spacy, John Pollack, Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Burns, etc. stars in a suspenseful thriller. You never know what may happen when you throw five career criminals together in a police lineup. Keeps you wondering till the very end.
  • Midnight Run: Stars Robert Deniro and Charles Grodin. A week long ordeal of a bounty hunter's attempt to bring in a bail hopper. Simply hilarious. Lots of cussing.
  • Ford Fairlane: Yes, it is the name of a car. It is also a Andrew Dice Clay Movie. It's sexist, predictable, badly written, but terrific to watch. I recommend watching it with your girlfriend, especially if she's easily offended.
  • Mystery Date: Stars Ethan Hawke, Brian MacNamara, and Teri Polo. It'll never win any honorable mention nor accalade, but it's one of my personal favorites. Very entertaining, just don't expect too much and you'll have a great time. Tale of a blind date gone awry, very, very awry.

Movies that you should NOT rent under any circumstances:

  • Liquid Sky: Don't ask. I couldn't find one single interesting minute in the movie (and I fast forwarded through most of it searching desparately).
  • She's out of Control: Stars Tony Danza. Need I say more?
  • Billy Madison: Stars Adam Sandler and Brigitte Wilson. I personally enjoy bad movies. This movie is beyond bad. Even the fact that Brigitte Wilson is in it does not make up for it.
